Most of the people who read this board are English language teachers. You might be better to try elsewhere. |

Some of your friends will be there to help? I have been offered AED10000 per month including Travel and housing and furnishing. Approximately how much I can save in a month?
With thanks and best regards. |

No one here knows anything about engineering salaries, of course. And, it is almost impossible for us to know how much you can save. Are you single or married? Will you live alone or share? Do you want a nice place or you don't care? Do you cook for yourself or go out to eat every night at a 5 star hotel? Will you buy a car or take a bus?
This would be a low salary for an English teacher. With an MA and experience, we would earn 10-12,000 plus we would be provided with free housing, a large furniture allowance, tickets each year, medical care, and gratuity. With that package I saved 80+% of my salary.
I expect that rents are not too high in RAK, but I hear things are booming up there, so the market may be tight. Most teachers are traveling right now, so your chances of finding someone with actual RAK experience and knowledge is very limited.
A safe estimate is probably that you could save half of the salary if you spend carefully.

How much allowance one will get (approximately)? Flight tickets to go home and *beep* back? Every year? I will be cooking and using Public transport but want decent apartment to stay.
Thanks |

I'm confused. If you've been offered a job, living allowance, flights, etc. will be in your contract. These vary from company to company so no one can really help you with this. As VS said, you may be able to save but there is no public transport in any real sense in RAK or even the UAE. You'll have to use taxis to get around (RAK is very scattered) and if you want to travel out of RAK town, that will be expensive. |

These are questions for your employer.
if you were working for me, I'd give you a one-way ticket *beep* back home. |

They are offering 1700 AED per month for accommodation and furnishing. Will this be sufficient to get a decent accommodation in Ras Al Khaimah? |

I expect that this might rent a small basic unfurnished flat.
But, I don't see how you will furnish it. In education jobs we get 30,000 dhs up front to furnish.

NOT if you become CERTified! No furnishing allowance...no inbound ticket...no inducement to stay!

You are changing the subject again!! There is a chance that it was all meant as an inducement for you to leave. I hope it worked. Time to move on for all those folks, I think.

Hello All,
I agree that you may not be knowing the exact salary. But you can give a general idea about the living conditions. How much is the Taxi, Phone, Electricity and internet cost per month at UAE in general and RAK.
Thanks |
