Today is Wan Khao Pansa (the beginning of Buddhist Lent)

and most people in Thailand will enjoy a 3-day weekend.

"This day marks the commencement of the Buddhist Lent or 'Phansa' during which monks must reside inside their temples to study and meditate. This is also the most auspicious time for Buddhist ordinations since it marks a period of renewed spiritual vigour."

I'm feeling vigorous already.

Hey Kent...i am feeling even more vigorous after the two day abstinence on alcohol served in bars.... in honour of said Buddhist Holiday!!

I bet that put a spanner in the works of many single male holidaymakers out here for a bit of R&R.

^ Pssst; don't tell anybody ...

but I found a cheap watering hole on my Soi on Thursday & Friday.

They were serving Leo, but it was better than drinking water.

Tonight (Saturday) things appear to be back to normal.

Cheers!

Hey, Kent, don't knock "Leo". It's an acquired taste, like fine scotch!

^ Hi Joe

The fine Scotch I'll take, but Leo?

I have only one word for you:

Chang - my beer of choice,

which Joe knows all too well, don't ya buddy?

Joe (a.k.a Volodiya, which is really his CIA code name)

is one of the few 'real live' people who has ventured down to Suk 71, Soi 42 -

to hang out at my top-secret 5-Star Garden Pub & Open-Air Resort & Spa.

Hi Joe ! (Ooooops - I mean Hi 'Volodiya')

Just say, "Suk 71, Soi 42, please driver", when you're looking for good conversation, and the authentic, Thai experience
