It seems that Global Village has been having a good summer so far. I have never heard a good word said about this company by students or teachers, so I was wondering why it's doing so well.

Does anyone have any recent experience with this school?

Chris

Dear Readers,

I have a friend who got burned out on teaching kids. He has been with Global Village for about 4 years now.

The pay is quite low (under 500NT per hour, I think)...and he has to travel to a few different locations within Kaohsiung.

Overall, not a terrible place to work.

Pay isn't everything, Steeevie. Global offers a slack job with few responsibilities. It is also a place people go if they want to teach only adults. Also, they have daytime classes. I've known people who've gone to work for them for the minimum hours required to get an ARC (all of them daytime hours) and then used their evenings (times when most people are working at buxibans) to fill their schedules with high paying privates.

I only hear good things about Global Village....Its where most adults go who want extra English classes...its pretty cheap for them so the pay won't be so good for a teacher but who cares if you'v got time to build up high paying privates....teaching adults is great fun and much more rewarding...it will do wonders for your social life too i bet....I'm seriously considering it.
