It is possible to change the date of arrival on a visa without having to reapply if its only a week difference?
Will we have more trouble finding work with we arrive say the 2nd or so of September? |

You will have trouble finding a decent job anytime of year on Taiwan. They are just not here anymore (for better or worse). If you are not concerned about the money try to get here towards the end of August.
Good luck!

Most visitors visas don't have an actual date of arrival. They generally state a date that you must enter before, which is generally within two months or so after the visa is issued. If you already have the visa I suggest that you check to see what the visa actually states.

There is as much work in Taiwan as there ever has been.
What has changed is that the market is becoming more competitive. Teachers need to actually earn their positions now, and can no longer just walk into a job based solely upon the fact that he or she happens to be a native speaker. Job volume has not gone down, it is just that schools are becoming more selective.
One change that Aristotle may be referring to is that the market for illegal workers is almost gone. Aristotle has always been an advocate of illegal work and no doubt he is finding that that market has all but disappeared - hence his disillusionment with Taiwan. |

Thanks - luckily now there is no need to change dates.
Incidently, its probably a pity that the work in mainland china doesnt pay better - every where i went in Beijing I was being begged to teach english - but the pay rates were usually pretty low.
Might do it after Taiwan though as i loved the mainlaid |
