Hi guys,
I'm in Korea at the moment, and while I love my job I don't think I'm gonna be intending on staying another year. I work at at Middle School with classes of 40 or so but I love it. The work load is very managable and i am pretty popular with my students.
But, while Korea isnt bad I want to see more of the world, Southern asia appeals more (and I'd love some decent food ) and I find there are strong xenophobic undercurrents among the older generations in Korea.
I guess I'm looking for a place which is a little more... unclenched
SO Taiwan is top of my list, I've got AGES before my contract ends here (may next year) and am researching early to ensure i'm well informed.
First up, can you teach privates and how much could you get teaching them (an hourly rate).
Second up I do like working in schools, I see from another post the government is looking for teachers, but it seems they have to be qualified teachers. I have a Trinity TESOL but nothing more. If its not possible to go through the government do public schools hire foriegners? (I'm only thinking of Taipai as an option).
FINALLY its dirt cheap to get to Taiwan from Korea so I was looking at hooking up a job while i still work here. Reckon I can organise a job in May to start late June? In Korea it would be impossible as they dont plan for a new teacher till their last one leaves.
Sorry for lousing up the board with standard questions but the search function is down on my comp.
Ta everso
