hi,

i am new to life in turkey, so some tips on the best places to eat and drink and dance would be most appreciated; i like to go out dancing - techno, trance style music. what's the hottest niteclub with a good dance floor and dj in istanbul?? not somewhere where east european prostitutes hang out or other undesirables. but somewhere where the upper crust 20-30 year old turkish people go to dance and drink.

thanks!

If you had asked me ten years ago I could have written pages. However.

for top uk/us DJs then babylon is the best place

Decent places to dance- sawady, mojo, shaman, hideout,Jazz stop, riddim bars, life roof, (all beyoglu) In gayretepe there is a new place called Godet which is apparently quite good. i haven't been. If you are into the gay scene then i hear Bar bache is best(again Beyoglu)

I'd avoid the 'famous' clubs like Reina,Laila and Hayal Kahvesi. Overpriced and full of posers with c.rap music.

Pick up the August issue of Time Out - Istanbul. It usually features nice places to go-dancing, eating, drinking, and other things. There is an English version you can find at many magazine stands. Good luck
