I've just added a new category, turkey for the tourist(at the bottom), more for people not familiar with Turkey. Give me a few days and i'll give you loads of links for alternative places for you to add to the appendix. Twisted Evil

Cheap backpacker holidays for teflers.

Sit round a campfire with your cans and talk about how materialistic the 9 to 5ers are. Then a few years later get out of TEFL and get a real job while the few who took your advice stayed and are now still doing the TEFL backpacker shuffle.

In your section on language schools how about a rating system for them? I could help with that.

Thanks for your offer, but it is an index. Don't want to judge anything. Some of the links I have already posted, I wouldn't touch(for example the 5* star hotel resorts- and no it is not because I am on a crappy efl salary and cant afford, its just not my kind of holiday.) It is merely a list for reference.
Again thanks for the offer.

Are you happy with including links to places like City of London College when you know what they are like?

Some of the links for TEFL courses that Kent has done include total rip offs like Brewster Academy which is run from Brewster's bedroom and a place that offers their own degrees validated by ex-Gulf hand. It seems wrong to offer them publicity.

31, you are obviously not in Istanbul. City of London College no longer exists

Hallelujah. What is Sinan doing now?

Is being in Ist dependant on knowing whether CLC still exists? I don`t even know if The English Centre still exists, let alone whether there are any remnants of English Fast left.

31, my dear friend. For someone so knowledgeable on the lay of the land of the current efl scene you show remarkable ignorance. Of course the English centre still exists, why shouldnt it?
As for your question about English Fast( I never worked there) but I know it now no longer does. I believe the owner opened the first kurdish school in Turkey.
I've only been here a couple of years and I know this. why dont you?

Hector Lector

I would have thought ET had gobbled the English Centre by now.

The first Kurdish school-no. The first school offering Kurdish language courses in Turkey opened in Diyarbakir after a lot of hassle with the authorities. That was well publicised in the media.

I have just checked with a friend and English Fast are still going and were advertising recently for their branch in Bursa. If you are interested I will send you the details.

Just to update you 31. ET tried or rather made an offer to buy out EC. Ahmetbey the owner of of EC declined and is still in operation, albeit on a smaller scale than before. I believe, but could be wrong, EF still operates from the old Pendik branch. They do some online course, where the teachers are all Turkish. I'm intrigued about your reference to Bursa, EF never had a branch in Bursa before. Can you expand?

According to my friend he is and the logo is the same. I suppose as ist, Izmir and Ankara get saturated with schools and mills like ET drive down prices somewhere like Bursa makes sense. There is no way EF could compete with an outfit like ET. At least Nazif was an honest crook.
