I will soon be going to Thailand for a CELTA course but have some visa issues. From my understanding, I can only get a 30 day visa since I am not residing in the U.S. now. I am in the U.A.E. Is it difficult to cross into Cambodia for a day or a couple of hours and then try to reenter Thailand? If not, what is the simplest way to accomplish this task? Do both Cambodia and Thailand allow entrance by road as opposed to air? Thanks for the feedback. |

Hello US Citizen
Getting a new 30 Day visa is no problem.
The Bangkok to Cambodia visa-run is about as common as the mosquitos.
Just click on The Master Index Thailand 'sticky post' located at the top of this forum,
and then scroll all the way down to Appendix B - FAQ 2.2
You have great timing, by the way!
I just returned from a Bangkok to Cambodia visa-run this evening.
PS: I use Quick Thai Visa. With this service, you leave BKK
at 10am sharp, and arrive back in Bangkok around 6:45pm.
It's 100% hassle free: www.freewebs.com/quickthaivisa |

You should have no problem getting a 60 tourist visa - which you can renew in Thailand (for B1900 I believe) for an additional 30 days. After which time - you are back to visa runs - which you solve as Kent mentions.
Just because you don't live in the States doesn't mean you can't get the longer visa. I am regularly back forth - and my legal residence is in Korea - and I haven't even been in the USA for about two years. But, I get a 60 day visa twice a year at the Thai Embassy in Seoul. I also got one in Riyadh, KSA a couple times. |

Kent F. Kruhoeffer is the person for info on Thailand! I'm a newbie (aged 45) arriving in Bangkok in September and taking the CELTA course at ECC in October. I've found his posts invaluable.
Maybe we should all get together and take him out for a few drinks?! |

Brewster, et al: I have a better idea!
When you guys get into town and settled in, gimme a ring
and I'll invite all of you down to the 5-Star Bar & Grill on my little Soi
for a cold Chang, home-cooking from Isan
and some very LOUD Thai Karaoke.
kenkannif: I'll send a limo to pick you up.
