I was wondering if anyone has any information on this!
I tried to do a search on the forum, but it seems to only search for "teacher."

We have the teacher's level from ★1 to ★4 based on teaching experience, Japanese level, etc. Lesson fees are different depending on teacher's ★ level, and teachers who have higher number of ★ can have higher salary. This ★ level is changeable by students feedback as well.

No, never heard of it... But at first glance (from the home page), let's just say that I won't be letting a website and (presumably) anonymous feedback system determine how much I ask for private lessons. Besides, how is a high level of Japanese going to help you learn English?

I charge 4000 yen, and always have. I realize it's too expensive for most students, but that's the whole point. I value my time highly and I really don't care to have too many students. The ones that I DO have are dedicated, and have no problem paying my fee. They also walk away with something when I teach them....

In the old days, of you wanted to learn a craft or skill (or martial art) the teacher first had to accept you as his student. In a way, having a fixed, high fee is my way of doing just that.

well, I've never done a private lesson before on my own time.
Also, I am not good at asking for money or judging my self worth when it comes to teaching, as I have only been here for 6 months.

I'm surprised I haven't heard of anyone doing this. I thought it was a great deal since they can supply teaching materials.

sounds like a lot of faffing around if you ask me.
put a profile one findateacher or sensei bank, give a first lesson for free and charge 3000/hour after that. If after a couple months you have more students than you can handle then bump it up to 4-5000/hr for any new students.
Don't sweat getting materials. First of all most students are going to have individual needs and there are plenty of places on the web to get resources, starting with this website.
