If any kind soul has any experience with -or can offer general thoughts on- these universities, I'd be grateful:
Nanjing Medical University
Nanjing Radio & TV University
Shanxi University of Finance & Economics (Taiyuan)
Hebei Normal College/University (Qinhuangdao) ...apparently this is a new school and the one I haven't been successful in even verifying its existence.
...and as always, I'll be happy to answer any queries about my namesake city as best as I can. |

The Universities in Nanjing are both reputable and I know of them. If I had to choose I would go to the Nanjing Medical University, or whichever contract looks better as far as salary, benefits, hours, etc...

Stay far, far away from Hebei Normal University in Qinhuangdao. Their accomodations are substandard... even for China. It's basically a small hotel room. You have to share a kitchen with the other teachers. I'd seen better accomodations in budget hostels. Plus that place wants you to work 20 hours a week. |

Badmojo, thanks very much for confirming the vaguely negative vibes I was feeling about HBU...and thanks to Amanda for confirming the existence and reputation of the schools in Nanjing. |

All of the schools are 3rd tier colleges and not universities.
Set your sights a little higher. |

I second AB's post about the universities in Nanjing. I have a few friends who have worked there in the part and had nothing negative to say. |

I can tell you about the Shanxi University of Finance and Economics in Taiyuan.
It's on the edge of town, so it's a long bike ride or 20 RMB cabfare into the city center where stuff is. The apartments are really nice. No one other than yourself is allowed in your apartment and they enforce that. Ditto for not being able to take up part-time work. They want you to stay in your apartment and will discourage you from doing so.
They pay the usual airfare, travel bonus, max 5K/month salary for 20 hours, but they pay for the full 11 or 12 months instead of 10 months that some universities do. Extra hours are available depending on your schedule. They like to have six foreigners there per year, but anyway.
Business qualifications are greatly preferred.
Then there's Taiyuan pollution. Check out other threads on that. |

Location-wise I would give NANJING the thumbs-up followed by Qinhuangdao; I would never wish to work in Taiyuan. |
