Anyone know them? They're based out of Samut Prakan province not far from BK.

Is that a nice province (with nice views, beaches, cool sights, decent nightlife, quality food, exotic culture) or is it a metropolitan dump with heavy traffic, pollution and excess noise?

p.s.

Why are there are only 12 pages worth of posts on the Thai forum? That's less than 600 topics. Considering the popularity of Thailand, that is SURPRISING. China, alone has 10,000 topics with over 170 pages. Are some pages from the Thai forum stored in history?

^ There are 2 very popular

'local forums' for TEFL in Thailand.

To be honest, this is not one of them. Laughing

The Thai Forum @ Dave's has only a handful of regular posters,

and seems to cater more to the International TEFL crowd.

Most long-term Thai TEFLers can be found at either

ajarn.com, thaivisa.com or forum.thaivisa.com

Regarding The Brexley Language Institute:

They operate a language school, and also recruit for

Thai government schools. (teaching 7 to 16 year olds)

Requirements reposted from a recent job advert:

- Age between 21- 50 years old
- TEFL, TESOL will be preferable
- Experience: at least 2-3 years
- At least a Bachelor's degree
- Please native speaker only

Salary: 30 to 35K Baht per month

Overtime: 300 Baht per hour

In terms of the $$$,

I'd say it's a fair deal;

not great, but not bad.

They may say 30-35 on the net but over email it somehow has magically dropped to 28-30K.

^ They can sense your desperation. Mr. Green

But seriously - that's why it's best to be here in person.

Relax - and don't accept that job just yet.

Wait until you're on the ground here ...

and then meet with them face-to-face.

If they like you, the 30 to 35K may suddenly reappear.

This is Thailand. You'll get used to it. Cool

More the latter than the former. Not so much a beach as a large mud flat. It has its good points: when the tide is in, pleasant enough views; a few decent seafood joints; traffic not nearly as harrowing as in the Big Smoke. But the air's just as foul, and it seems just as noisy. Plenty of trucks rumbling through.

Or do you prefer lorry?

Oh, and Kent's advice is - as usual - sound. Don't take the job.
