Does anybody have any advice/experience with this? I was just hired by American Training to teach a class and they say that it takes 2 months to get paid for working. They are hired out by companies for month-long classes, bill them at the end, and then pay the teachers when they receive their payment. This makes sense in a way, but it makes me nervous because I dont have any recourse here. If this is common then Ill just have to deal with it. If its not, well then Ill just keep looking.

Wow, 2 months to get paid. I can't speak for all but, all 3 of my institutes paid me the following month (well about 10 days late on average). I do know a girl whose institute is 2 months behind on her pay, and she is becoming VERY upset with that.

If you're tight for money, my advice is to go to another institute.

2 months, sounds a bit too long. The norm I believe is getting paid on a monthly basis. Guys, any thoughts on this?

Agreed, way too long. Once a month or twice a month, even weekly is more proper.

Fiorella,
The reason they're paying you that way is simple.
They don't have enough money to pay you the way they usually do it here (month expired). Therefore they are not risking anything. I wonder what will the do if they don't get paid by their clients at the end og those 2 months?.

In ARG the most common way of getting paid is monthly, you may find some jobs that will offer you twice a month too. Weekly payment is not common at all.

Cheers!

Well, I don't have any first-hand experience with American Training, so this is all hearsay, but from what I understand they are very bad about paying their teachers on time. A friend that worked there told me she was accused of "bribery" when she refused to turn in her sylabus b/c she had not been paid. She told me she eventually got her money, but it was always a fight and was therefore unreliable if you need the cash for rent etc. I hope you have better luck with them!
