Hi all! Going to do a visa run to Bangkok from Taiwan. My question is how long should I expect to wait for the process to be finished? Is it quite fast like Hong Kong or am I looking at a week or longer?
Thanks in advance for your help! |

Have you spoken to others who have done the visa run to Bangkok? I had heard some rumors that it's better now, but a few years back the Taiwan Visa office was hell to work with.
They were very picky about WHO gets a visa and WHY. They asked a lot of questions and then TOLD me I had no use for a 3 month visa, and then granted me one month. Hence, ANOTHER visa run was in order. |

Oops! I didn't answer your question! At the time it took about 3 days, but you should consult someone with more up to date info than mine. |

Next day service, as long as all your paperwork is in order. I did one there last year and it was much better than HK. You can stay in the Sukhomvit area for cheap, maybe 800baht for the night. It's close enough to the metro (as is the office you need to get your visa from) and do some great shopping. I'll buy all the XXXL hawaiin shirts you can carry. (5 max in case you take me seriously).
Have fun, BKK rocks. |

It is difficult to emphasize how easy life can be and how enjoyable visa runs are if you have a Multiple Entry Visa.
You no longer have to go to any visa office as your re-entry is pre approved before you leave. Just sit on the beach for a day or two and your visa run is complete. You can even ask your employer to pay for it and make money from the amount you save in taxes.
A little preparation can go a very long way by turning an otherwise uncertain and tedious visa run into a paid, mini vacation.
Do your homework, apply through a travel agent and specifically request a Multiple Entry Visa for business purposes.
Good luck!

As recently as one year ago the Taipei Trade Office in Bangkok was issuing same-day visas at an express fee of around 800 baht- which is less than the cost of staying a day longer and missing income. Be very sure to be utterly prepared, though, with all your papers ready and ducks in a row. Keep copies of all your documents and file them neatly, look sharp and be polite, and things will run smoothly. Best of luck. |
