Approximately 50km south of the 49th parallel on the very left coast, on a small island on the edge of the pacific. We have lots of trees, whales, lumberjacks, and good beer.

hmmmm...I s'pose I shouldn't have written EXACTLY...how about...what PART of Canada? Laughing But EXACTLY is a much better laugh. I am from an east coast valley, between two spruce trees, just left of the stinky moose. The lumberjacks are scratching their ars-s as they wait for the trees to fall and there haven't been many whales since all the fish were caught. Razz But the beer IS pretty good on our side.

Quelle coincidence! I think I know that moose.

I hail from between two Douglas Firs, in a river valley, in an unusually warm patch of BC-- perhaps you have vaguely, possibly, unlikely heard of the Cowichan Valley? It is famous for pulp mills, emu farms, cougar sightings (both cats and middle-aged women), a fine summer music festival, and as a Tim Hortons stop off point between Victoria (big city) and Long Beach (lovely, touristy, whale-watchy).

We have very fine quality smoked salmon as well.

So, I was right... Bringing Tim's with me would probably fetch a good price...

South Western Ontario here, on the shores of the Bay of Owen Sound. Not too far from Wasaga Beach. Getting ready to return to Turkiye, finalizing all the c.rap that needs to be finalized...

Your canuck days are over? I'm guessing this means you don't plan to return. ? I find this very interesting.

I split my time in Canada between two great places; Vancouver Island, (which my neighbour Yaramaz has already described) and the Okanagan valley, where I spent my formative years hanging out in cherry orchards, swimming in the lake and skiing all winter. Oh yea, and drinking that great beer!

Speaking of beer, there's a pub here in Taipei, within crawling distance of my apartment that carries Granville Island IPA. (It beats Taiwan beer, which regularly has strange "floaties" in it, tastes like rice, and gives a wicked hangover.)

Ooooo ooooo oooo! Granville Island IPA!!! (am drooling, wish I wasnt in the staff room) From what I understand, there is a microbrewery in Istanbul- Taps- and the brewmaster is from Seattle (the Pa of one of our teachers). Haven't tried them yet but am curious (and thirsty) to try something other than Efes. And please don't say there is always Tuborg. It is merely Efes by another name. Reminds me of those Nigerian formaldehyde based beers I used to drink in Ghana. Yum!

Fair enough my info is from mymerhaba, maybe not the best source.
Quote:
Taps
Taps is located in a three-story building in Teşvikiye and sells only the beer it produces. The bar has a capacity of 80, while the restaurant hosts 100 people. On the upper floor, there is a barley mill, beer-producing tanks are on the middle floor, and the kegs are at the entrance and in the basement. The beer is sold fresh. There are four kinds of beer with different tastes. All the equipment is provided from Germany and the beer master Tobias Palmer is German. Besides beer, food from Italian and American cuisine is also served at Taps. Mussels, Taps Steak and Portobello pizza are the favorite dishes.
