hello,

Im thinkin about packin my djembe and didgeridoo on my travels to asia.

Ive heard busking in Japan is enthusiastically recieved, though what about other places like China?
any recommendations?

anyone wantta share their thoughts and experiences...please do

Oh, really? You may actually need a permit to do this, and you should also watch out for yakuza turf.

In China you'd have about 1000 people crowded around you watching and laughing. Mind you, they'll do the same if you stop to buy an orange at the market. I don't even think it would occur to them to toss money at you, and they'd be too poor to do so, anyway. They haggle for minutes over the difference of 10 cents.

I don't know about Beijing, but I've spent time in Shanghai and Guangzhou and I've never noticed any street performers, mostly beggars. I imagine the police would frown upon it.

The nearest I've seen to busking in Asia is the guitar girls in Zhuhai China going from table to table at the outdoor eateries. Busking would be like begging and as Seth said.
Where did you hear busking was enthusistically recieved.
