| School is here.. What tools do you use in the classroom?? Powerpoint, microphone, etc?? I have been given a portable microphone to use if I wish. The device can be clipped to my collar or I can use head set. From my rehersals with it , it is great for saving one's voice, don't have to through your voice as much.. The mouth part has to be fairly close to the mouth.. so the students can not see how you put your mouth when pronouncing words or letters.. Do you use a microphone or other devices?? |

I don't like using a microphone. I have large classes but I also never seem to have problems with my voice, so I don't really need it. The thing with mics is that when I hear Chinese through one I have a more difficult time understanding. Announcements, speeches etc. are just not as clear to me. I assume that it is probably the same in any language, so i prefer that the students hear my voice more naturally.
Of course this may only speak to my difficiencies in Chinese listening. |

we've multi media classroom which includes a computer, DVD/VCD player, VCR, projector and a microphone. i don't usually use the microphone as i prefer to go around the classroom and teach. and i try to incoproate the use of computer and other visual aids in my teaching for better results.
besides, somehow my boss doesn't prefer the use of microphone as they believe it is NOT effective teaching (who knows why?!). teachers who use microphone will be commented negatively on their classroom observation report. a lot of teachers are very unhappy about this as constant projection of voice may damage the vocal cords. this no microphone policy is so ridiculous! |
