Anyone have information on the city of Hanzhong in Shaanxi. any links or picture of the town would be great.

I once was negotiating for a teaching position at the local normal school there; the FAO was a very helpful and friendly man but I finally decided not to go to work there because it is in the sticks.
Shaanxi is a northern province bordering on the north on INner Mongolia and to the south on Sichuan; its capital is Xi'an, which you may know. The territory is rich in historic monuments dating back to when China was forming ca. 3000 years ago.
BUt the province is relatively poor, and Hanzhong is not exactly a tourist attraction. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, though.
If you are after a thorough immersion in today's China that's not yet been catapulted into the 21st century - this is probably as good a place to go as few others. |
