Can somebody please answer my question.
I have health insurance from my university. Last month I married a non-japanese. Today she is sick. Sad Is she covered on my health insurance?
She is on a dependents visa.

Sidjameson, did you file the paperwork at the university to get her included on your insurance? If not, she's not covered, regardless of your marital status.

On Monday, go down to Human Resources and get the paperwork started. It takes anywhere from a day to a week to complete the process--depends on the efficiency of the office there. However, once the paperwork is filed, they should be able to give your wife at least a note saying she's to be covered under your insurance.

Good luck!

Not unless you specified for her to be so when you started working for the university.

If you do so, your premiums will also go up to cover her. Each individual (as far as I know) is responsible for his/her own health insurance premiums. This was the case when I started working for the city and my wife (also on a dependent visa) was not covered by my health...

Well, he did say he actually had insurance. He could have just asked if she was covered by insurance in general and never mentioned his own. So, yes, he could.

Sid, you're not trying hard enough. :)
