Steve has been at it again in today's TEFL Guardian and has complained that he has been called a washed up has been by people on this forum.

The most interesting thing in his article, I found, is that you can get an egg and a pastry in a kiraathanesi. I have always had to go to a pastane.

Here's the link that 31 was talking about.

btw I wouldn't say that Steve was washed up. I have respect for him. Anyone that survives 20 years in Turkey.

I don't know Steve, I'm sure he's a nice fellow though.
But what a pointless, vacuous, article.

..washed up old has-been.

He was my boss at English Fast and a very good one at that.

I enjoyed the article.

He (and his colleagues) had been described as "has beens" and worse by Ekmekparasi in an old post in this forum a while ago. I couldn't find the phrase "washed up" but didn't look very hard. It was a malicious bit of scandal-mongering which Steve obviously read and remembered. What a pity that that is what this forum is remembered for!

What a surprise. I only remember positive things about him from my old Fast days.

Steve, Ian et al I hope you are reading. You are not has beens. Remember this.

Never met Steve but of course I know Ian.

I am still concerned that he gets an egg and a pastry in a kiraathanesi. You can get tea, 'tost' but I have never heard of getting any kind of breakfast in one. Are the Kiraathanesi in Izmir much posher then?

Entrailicus - your answer intrigues me!

You obviously know Steve well enough to know that he attended Woodstock but you seem not to be enamoured of him?
From my experience this is not compatible! Most people who know Steve also admire and respect him.

Did you know he also met Andy Warhol? That in itself does not impress me but Steve does.
