|
|
I accepted a job in Opole, but the salary has been frozen so I am now re-considering their offer.
I have also been offered a job in Gdansk.
Which would be the best location for someone new to Poland? My initial decision was swayed by thoughts of what to do in winter....I'm worried that Gdansk/tri-city area closes down out of tourist season, and it's not near any mountains for winter sports. Furthermore, it's farther away from major tourist cities. Am I wrong in thinking this?
I'm having a really tough time making a decision, as both schools sound great....
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!! |

Why?
What do you do in winter? Are there any winter sports areas nearby? Or do you spend lots of time at the pub.....???! |

I had offers from Opole and Gdynia.
I chose Opole despite any Polish people I spoke to telling me that Gdynia was better. No-one gave me any reasons though!
So I'm not much help - sorry!!

Thanks for the input PK!!
It was also my initial decision, but things have changed a little...
I am just wondering what the tri-city area is like in winter- you know if the whole place closes down outside tourist season?!!! |

Gdansk is certainly stilll alive in the winter - there are constantly German and Swedish voices to be heard on Dugi. Though the local boat trips arent going of course, there's still plenty going on if you look for it. Sopot is a popular party destination throughout the year. Its a lovely place to be around Christmas because you're almost guaranteed snow and public transport never seems affected. One reason I stayed there over Winter was the extremes of cold seen in central, Eastern and Southern Poland aren't seen in Gdansk... |
