land line if you want internet at home. Re cell phones, I think Turkcell is best, and a monthly payment line is cheaper than konturlu. And don't buy a phone on the street, as it may be stolen and the govt is cracking down on them. |

You don't need a telephone line if you get kablonet. Cable tv and unlimited internet works out at about 45 ytl amonth. (apply at the post office)
I'd recommend Turkcell as most of your friends will have Turkcell. If you get a different provider you'll pay more to phone your friends. |

Take your passport to a Turkcell shop. They will p/copy it. Pay 13YTL and they will give you a sim card.It should be activated within a few hours. This includes some credits, can't remember how many. |

ADSL through TurkTelecom combines land line with unlimited (bar download ceiling) Internet access for 29 YTL a month.
Cable TV through TurkTelecom 7 YTL a month.
Turkcell for mobile use has the added advantage of numerous offers/freebies. Join "gencturkcell" [to those who don't know: this means young Turkcell], it is available to all - I suspect I'm the oldest at 48! You then get extra perks - I currently pay nothing to text fellow Turkcell users. I last replenished my 'pay as you go' phone in June but they keep sending me more units! |
