I would presume that you have read all of the useful information that is all over this board. Spend a few hours reading about and then you might work on making your question more specific. (like employer... city... benefits on offer... lifestyle you expect... )

This is information you should get from your employer well before you take up the post. If you haven't got it, don't go! I've no idea what KAA Uni is: I hope that someone does.
And a little tip: some punctuation would be appropriate. This is a language teachers forum, not an SMS message to your mates. Though, with luck, some of us might become mates of a sort. |

I assume that this is King Abdul Aziz University. They've been around for awhile, and there has been little bad press here on them. The universities normally have someone meet you at the airport and either take you directly to their assigned housing for you or to a hotel until it is ready. But, you really need to ask them. Hopefully someone who is there now or lately will answer you - but many are traveling at the moment. You should already have been informed of all this by now - by the university - copy of contract? offer letter? Do you have your visa in hand?
And, Younggeorge is right... if you are going there to teach English, you better start following the rules yourself. If you have read around on this board, you would have seen that many posters get very nasty about poor English usage around here.
And more people might want to asisst you if you didn't first suggest that their advice might be 'irrational'...

A lot of the information you need is employer-specific.
You really need your employer to answer these questions or get someone who is working at KAAU. (By the way "KAAU" is the conventional abbreviation for this university.)
Are you teaching English in the Medical Faculty or in the Department of English ? |

VS, shouldn't it be "if you have read around...you will have..."?
You could of course, have said "if you had read around...you would have..."
On a more serious note:
Nikk, your questions are fundamental ones that should have been long-since directed at your employer.
I agree with VS, your writing style leaves a lot to be desired, especially in light of where you are writing. You do not give the impression of being someone with a good command of either punctuation or syntax. Shame on you!!!! [Vicariously...my embarrassment is for you.] |

I hate conditionals! My life is full of them! Especially the third one! (Or is it the fourth if we consider zero conditional as the first one!).....
nikk.... if all fails.... dive into the deep end mate! That was my case when I got to Saudi Arabia! I dived right into the deep end and the experiences are endless |

Bebsi just doesn't realize that part of my retirement agreement is that I get to ignore conditionals. |

So VS, if you had not had a retirement agreement such as you mention, in place, would it have been the case that you would not have got to ignore conditionals, and that you would therefore have had to use them instead?
[And then we sometimes wonder why learners of this language experience difficulties?????????? ] |

I was actually aiming to get hold of somebody at the mythical KAA uni who could have answered my questions about a lot of things rather than go through my normal MO of arriving in Asia with no loot and no job Anyone who wants any tips about working in Taiwan feel free to ask I was there over a 10 year period
thanx Nik |

Nik,
Here are a few things you might want to bring that will be difficult to find when you arrive: pornographic tapes and movies, pork, booze, loose women, and competent government administrators. Most other things should be easily obtainable.
A few cultural notes: don't point the heel of your foot at anyone, don't fondle, stare at, or fornicate with the indigenous women, and your first name in the local language means f_ck.
I hope this helps.
