I am a 23 year old graduate from scotland. i have a degree in linguistics from glasgow university and i would like to move to mexico city to teach english. i am considering doing my TEFL course online, specifically the
'i-to-i' TEFl course. i was just wondering if anyone has done this course /or knows if it is a good one to do. i would appreciate any help on this.

i-to-i: Avoid like plague unless you enjoy passing over money for worthless pieces of paper and jobs ("volunteer" or otherwise) in countries in which plenty of jobs can be found without i-to-i's "help".

bluffer -
thank you for the advice but to be honest i have done my stint at glasgow - 5 long infuriating years of tutors who enjoy ruining the passion of learning and studying languages - and i really would rather work full time and get money and then do a course either from home or at night school. im not from glasgow centre ( about an hour outside) so it makes more sense to find another course. am now seriously doubting all online courses due to the majority of opinions on this website. i think i'll look into the CELTA courses and see what i can come with in my delightful little town.

we will never agree because i think everyone from edinburgh secretly knows that glasgow is better.... Very Happy

any further advice on the above re: Tefl courses around glasgow is greatly appreciated.

Best of luck in whichever course you decide on.

Once you know where you would like to end up it is often cheaper to do a CELTA in your destination country (assuming it isn't Japan or in the Middle East) than in the UK unless you can find one within commuting distance or somewhere where you can stay at friends.

Having said that I wholeheartedly recommend the CELTA at Leeds Metropolitan University although I have no reason to believe that other centres are not equally as good.
