goodbye listening component of the intermediate exam.

Does anyone know of decent downloadable listenings I can use use in an end of level exam.

weblinks would be great where i could record it straight on to disc or the hard drive.(yes I am being lazy, but any help would save me work)

btw why do so many places still use cassette players.

we are using i-pods these days. they have some drawbacks, but they are definitely portable. The teachers use them for the listening activities as well as the exams.

You could always record your own listening, dmb.

I know Molly, but as I said I am being lazy. But the internet is a teachers best friend.If someone else is kind enough to put something on the net that you can use/alter for you own purposes... why give yourself extra work.

I'm intrigued by your i-pod comment. I bought an ipod earlier this year in the Uk. It cost me about 250 quid.(they are more expensive here.) Are you supplying teachers with i-pods? Plus all the speakers, ipod station etc.

The i-pods were bought in bulk, so they were cheaper, I guess. They are issued to the teachers, who if they break, lose or steal them, have to pay for them. Speakers have been installed in the classrooms and the i-pods just plug in. Cool, huh?

It is indeed. My concern would be if a teacher did a runner with one. It does happen, as we all know.
(I lost my i-pod earlier in the year(in the snow) Got any spare?

You might try emule or kazaa for downloads of audio and video that can be used for lessons. I have found audio and video for a couple popular texts books. Hope the suggestion works.

dmb, you might try having a look at the podcast craze. I haven't checked them out, but I think the gist is that they're easily accessible "broadcasts", like little radio programs.

I'm not sure if they have to be used with ipods, but I doubt it. The itunes software is free. After using the itunes software to find good ones, you might be able to burn them to cd or record them while they're playing.

Might be more trouble than it's worth.

we record our scripts at a studio and then have them saved on computer, then distributed to be loaded on the i-pods. You sound like a one-man show, dmb, so that might be too much for you. If you decide to record yourself and need another voice, let me know Very Happy

I am jealous Molly. for recording, it's amazing how much teachers and friends will help with the promise of a beer. But I really want all the listenings on the computer then copied onto cd.(very easy to do) The main reason is most of the teachers all teach in offices and very often there is no cassette, but every office has a computer with cd/dvd player.
