| I can't seem to find the answer to this. When does the 1 year start for the WHV? Is a WHV good one year from the date you are approved for the Visa, or is it one year from when you step foot in Japan? |

The visa is a 6 month visa, not one year, but it can be renewed for another 6 months. Australians can get 2 renewals, getting 18 months in total
According to the Australian website you must enter japan within 3 months of being issued the visa

The visa is valid for 6 months when you arrive at the port of entry when you enter the country. |

| I'm planning to go mid-January. Can someone confirm that you must enter Japan within 3 months of being issued a CANADIAN WHV? |

Reread what Paul and I wrote. The answer is a combination of the answers.
After you get the WHV in your hands, you have 12 months to get here to start using it.
The clock starts ticking the moment you arrive in Japan. |
