I do not think you can paint all the schools with the same brush.. I personally like Joy school. They always try to help me with personal things, to encourage me to stay teaching there. I have learned many things about teaching using their teaching material which has helped me in other jobs.. I also find their teaching assistants to be helpful and very friendly. |

I am working at Joy School in Harbin and have been for 9 months. Harbin Joy school is a good place to work. It is a very well run school and the headmaster takes really good care of the foreign teachers. Usually, 20 hours a week with 2 office hours.
The school has its own curriculum and they tell you what to teach. A good school for somebody just beginning to teach. The school trains you right when you come and you also observe classes to try and get a handle on how to teach.
I enjoy working for Joy School and if you do your work well then the school will treat you right.
Any more info, just PM me.
Cheers |

They are quite frequently on Dave's Job Board looking for teachers. Do some FTs not stay long?
Can you explain more details about the schedule? How many hours/day do you teach? How many days/week do you have off?
Is it true that they pay RMB 80 for overtime. How much overtime are you expected to do?

I agree with china_sk8er. Joy School Harbin is a really good school. I worked there before, too. Everybody loves Pollyanna. |

I heard that at the Joy school in Harbin, there is a one way mirror and the parents watch you teach...
Is this true? |

You don't find that uncomfortable?
I don't know if I would like that...
Does it bother you at all? |

No. It especially does not bother china_sk8er. I know that he loves it and looks forward to it every day. |
