I am planning to teach in Taiwan starting in February 14-March 1. I have already been told that if you arrive right before the Chinese New Year and during the Chinese New Year that people will not be hiring until the New Year celebrations are over. It looks like that New Year's will be from Feb. 10-14. Should I arrive imediately Feb. 15, 16 or if I wait until March 1 will all the jobs be gone? Well I mean at least the best ones!

The reason I am asking is that I can arrive on Feb.15 but I would prefer to go to Easter Island for a week before I start to look for work in Taiwan.

I should recieve my M.A. in Foreign Language Pedagogy with specialization in German in December.

You are gonna get stared at year round, not just after CNY. Sorry to say, but that's just the way it is.

Happy days.

If you are anywhere close IRL to how you come across on this board, I'd probably say, "Sorry, no job for you" too. And I wouldn't lie to you as to why.

Actaully I come off very meek and asian when job hunting. I act eager and happy. Ask around how EZ it is to get a job in taiwan and i think you will hear how they lie to get you in the office to experience a western interview, and then they turn you away becuase the job was already taken. Obviously you are out of touch with the job market since you think this is a reflection on me.
