Hi Guys,
This looks like an awesome forum for information, as I have been reading a lot of the posts. I have a couple of questions that I could not find the answer to. One is, I am talking the Oxford Seminars TESL course in September-October and then would like to work in November. I have been doing quite a bit of job searching and it seems from some posts it says you can work in Thailand with a College Diploma and you don't need a degree. Is this true, as I have a Computer Systems Technology Diploma (2 years) from Canada. Also if this is not true, is there any places I can work with just a Diploma to help me along.
Thanks for your time,
Jesse |

It will depend where you end up teaching.
If you remain under the radar and dont apply for a WP then then a diploma is fine.
If your school wants to apply for a WP, then the Ministry of Education may refuse to give you a teachers licence ( which is the first step to the WP ) as its not a BA. But, if your school backs you up or you live out in the sticks you may get it )
You may get it anyway.
But you will be competing against people who have degrees so you might not get "good" jobs.
As ever in Thailand the official story is you need a degree, but in practice, the answer is maybe, possibly and which way is the wind blowing today? |

Yeah I think there's at least one poster on here that's managed it....Laura???
I know a fair few as well. But generally it's far easier outside of Bangkok.
Sad thing is often people that have degrees struggle to get a WP. |

There is always the option of a quick visit to Koh Sarn Road an acquire an instant Bachelor or hell even an Master degree (international driving licens, britisch driving license, tefl certificate, press cards, list goes on)
It is not my style, but I have heard it does the trick.
You didn't hear it from me.

^ They are terrible and anyone with half a brain would spot them (and not the buck has passed from the MoE to the schools, don't expect it to be so easy in future). |
