Hello there..I am interesting in teaching in The international School in Dubai.. I am a us citizen. I am certified History and social studies. I have a double major bachelor degree. I speak both English and Arabic fluently...Anybody knows anything about this school. Do I have a chance working there..Oh I forgot to mention I have a 4 years of experience in the us.

There are many international schools in Dubai following various curriculums, but I have never heard of "The International School". If your degree is from an American college or University, then there are several schools following American curriculums - The American School of Dubai, Dubai American Academy and the American Academy for Girls. PYP schools are Dubai International Academy and Uptown Primary. Emirates International School is another school - with 2 campuses.

Oh dear... Are you Arab or Jewish? If you are Jewish, you will likely have little chance of being hired. And if you are Christian, they will wonder why you were studying in Isreal. If you are Muslim, your chances have just increased.

But, you can certainly try applying. Take great care with International schools, some of them are very bad employers. Although the posters here are mostly ESL/EFL teachers, they often know about the different schools. Megs gave a good list to start searching.

Do I have any chance finding a job as either a Social Studies teacher or a history teacher(I am certified in both)?

Since we are all English teachers here, it is really hard to give advice on employment in other teaching fields. It depends on what they need - which we can't predict.

I would take the list above from Megs - search out their websites - and send an application to each of them. This is not the best time of the year to be searching, so you might say that you are looking for either now or for next academic year. See what kind of response you get.

I don't believe that an MA will really help you if you wish to stay in K-12 teaching, but you could always start one if you have to wait for employment till next year. It could be helpful further on in your career.

There is a good chance that at least one of the schools I mentioned before will be looking for a Social Stuies teacher. Many teachers complete their 2 year contracts here and then move on.

If you are looking for a job beginning next school year, then I would recommend sending your resumes at the end of November or the beginning of December. Because of the Eid holiday, most of the schools have a 3 week holiday over New Year. When we come back, the jobfairs start right away and the schools hire many teachers at these. If you send your resume later in the new year, then the schools may very well have already filled any open positions they had had.

But dmiari, I would make sure your written English is better on the application than you've shown on this forum so far. Most potential employers are very picky about good English on applications (I used to work in teacher recruitment myself), and I see no reason for that to not be the case here - in an English-medium school.

Just trying to be helpful - I wouldn't like to see somebody flunk an application just on imperfect grammar! You might well be an excellent teacher, after all.
