If you add all the posts from all the european forums you get 12,622(except Turkey)
The Turkey forum has 13992 posts.

Does this mean that Turkey is the biggest EFL field in Europe?

I'm staggered by the numbers.

I bet Turkey is up there, especially with the number of young people here. I've noticed a lot of new textbooks and new editions of textbooks have more references to Turkey and students with Turkish names (though, intesestingly, if the characters in textbooks have personalities, it's the Turkish ones who goof off and get bad grades).

On the other hand it could also be that there are a lot of us posting a lot of BS and random, unrelated to TEFL musings...

I must have missed those posts Wink

The age thing is interesting. Alot of publishers are now bringing out Turkey specific books, including Academic English books.

We're using some here, like Beyond the Boundaries (though I think Sabancı publishes that one). Especially for Turks, it's a good idea. My students show little to no interest in other cultures...

strangely though, when they brought out orange smarties, they weren't quite as popular

Do you think Sabanci are trying to take over the uni market and have all the universities use their materials? I haven't seen them but I am sure they are good.

Yeah, I wondered about that. Actually, I'm not sure if they're trying to get everyone to use thier materials, or if they're selfishly hoarding them for themselves...
