|
|
I'm having a hard time finding any on the net.
I'm looking for a school that offers free accamodation. I can start in October. I have a TEFL, experience (in China & Canada) and a 2 year diploma. I can speak a little Chinese (if that helps). I'll be coming in from HK or SHenzhen (after renewing an L visa).
Please let me know if you can assist me in landing a job on Hainan island |

Officially some 23 institutions in Hainan are listed that have a licence to hire FTs, including several universities (did you know there is a town Qiongzhou that boasts one university?).
Several vocational schools and middle schools hire too.
If they don't advertise it is probably because they don't have to go to that extreme. Word of mouth propaganda fills their positions.
Illustrious TalkDoc of some fame or other is comfortably ensconced at Hainan University although his views of his place of work and host society have undergone some noticeable modifications for the worse. Maybe he can land you a post. |

Yes, there's a number of teaching positions in Hainan; however, most of the ones that provide accomodations are the universities, colleges, or public or private high schools, and they require that you have a Bachelor's degree. At this point in time, I would expect that most of the schools have hired their teachers for the year, since classes begin the first of September, but there may still be a few openings.
About 90% of the teaching positions are located in Haikou, the capital city. If you don't need accomodations (or a Z visa) there's a host of private kindergartens, private training schools, and 5 Star hotels that desire to hire English teaching staff. The going rate in Haikou for free-lancing is around 100 yuan an hour.
Some of the schools post their openings on various websites, and others just fill them by word of mouth. Our school didn't advertise at all for teachers this year, and all 7 positions for this Fall were filled by last March (i.e. you need to apply early to get the good jobs in Hainan). |

Shite
I really want accom. but don't want to worry about Z visas and government schools (or thier requirements).
Talkdoc has offered to look up some positions for me (the net is virtually void of Hainan jobs). |

have you tried emailing some of the unis directly? I would guess that it would be the most appropriate course of action at this point. |

Again, I'm not really interested in government jobs (including universities)
1) I don't have a B.A.
2) I don't want to commit for a year (Z visa, etc...)
I'm looking for a private operation somewhere in Hainan (probably Haikou), though hotel jobs in Sanya seem appealing too. |

Beware of private teaching in Hainan. My son was bust about a month ago. It seems the PSB want to stop that kind of thing in Hainan. |

It doesn't matter where.
All that matters is you either have something useful to add or get out. |

It doesn't matter where because you've never been to China. |

Stormrider,
please, buzz off! The languyage you employ is not tolerable in ten-year olds; why would we put up with it from one of our 'peers'? |
