Hi! I am a TEFL and French teacher.
I am moving to Milan in July and currently sending my CV to work there in September or October. Have any of you or a friend worked there teaching English? I would be very grateful if you could share your experience there with me.

Thanks

Hope to hear from you soon

Hedwige

What is your nationality ? I ask because it is easier for citizens of an EU country than for others.

Thanks for answering. I am French but I am bilingual in English and French as I was my mother is English and my father French. Do you have any experience working in Milan? The school I'm working in at the moment in Barcelona is fantastic. I am applying for jobs now but it's difficult to know what a school is really like before working there.

You might get a better response if you posted this on the Italy forum.

I taught in Milan, and while it's not EFL paradise (where is?) it's OK. Most of the work these days is in-company, which means that split shifts and unpaid travel time across town are the norm. If you're working freelance, you'll have to learn to live with a lot of cancellations, which you usually don't get paid for. If you're on contract, of course, cancellations are great
Speaking of which, fll contracts are getting harder to find in Italy. Schools find it cheaper to just hire and pay people by the hour, which is OK if you're busy, but of course you won't get hoidays or sick leave paid, and you'll have little security.
Milan itself is not Italy's most attractive city, but it has everything you need and the transport system - so important for a teacher - is excellent. Italian students are generally keen, pleasant and polite.
