I'm an American looking to teach somewhere in Europe. I have a degree from a 4-year degree, but it doesn't relate to English or teaching. If I were to get CELTA certified, would I have the necessary qualifications to land a job in Poland?

I think, considering the particular shortage of native speakers in Poland, a school would employ even without a CELTA. However, they'd use it as an excuse to pay you a lower wage than standard.

I think a bigger problem you would face is making sure everything is done legally, as, from reading here, paperwork for Non-EU members can be particularly tough in Poland.

Hi

I have just done the rounds here in Krakow. I have a degree (and full teaching qual.) but no CELTA. I have had no problem getting offers - mainly, I think, due to my generic teaching qual.

Point is, I reckon you'll be fine with a degree and CELTA. You're a native speaker, and that seems to count for a lot out here. As to how much money you'll be offered, well, maybe not topline, but I'm sure you're not expecting that, anyway.

As far as pay is concerned, I'd just like to make enough to live comfortably, do some traveling, and maybe enjoy the nightlife once or twice a week. I assume that wouldn't be a problem. Am I correct in that assumption?

Yes. You will live very comfortably, especially if you compare your salary with the average Pole. Be choosy with your job offers (you will get them!) and take a few privates.

Nie problem.
