Are there any jobs where you don't sign a contract and just work and get paid on the same day when your work is finished. I know back home we have those kind of jobs fruit picking, contstruction etc.. but in Japan are there any conversation lounges that let you work with a 1 day contract and you get paid in cash after finishing. I need an irregular job to go with my part-time ALT job that I can do when I feel like and not be tied down to it.

Yes, there are such things, but they are so sporadic that they lend new meaning to the Japanese expression "case by case".

As well they tend to be low paying and usually exploitive.

Personally, I have trouble with the idea of charging someone by the hour to talk with me.

I've seen plenty of these "pay by the hour" and "pay by the day" jobs advertised on gaijonpot and in Kansai Time Out. You have to remember of course that they are "just what it says on the can" and you won't get paid any extras (holidays, insurance, housing sub...). As others have said, the rate of pay is usually quite low too: most seem to offer something like 10000yen per day, which translates as less than 2000 yen an hour.
