I'm grateful to know that others have become as fed up as I with the ET propaganda.
It's a school that I have very little respecty for. However, in the last few months I've refrained from making any comments on that topic, for fear of exciting certain idiots on this site.
Thanks to the Moderators for taking action.
ET is a major player in the TEFL industry here in Ist. and WILL be discussed. However, the discussion becomes useless when certain (mentally scarred) individuals vent their agendas.
Regards,
Dude. |

Very true. It is the biggest group of schools so newbies should be able to ask questions and get honest replies. |

What is the done thing on this site about running down schools, employers and teachers?
Things change so fast that you often end up repeating things that you have been told but really have no idea for sure if they are true or not.
You know how 2 people can work at the same place but one has a great time and tells everyone about it but the other hates it and runs it down all the time.
What is a newbie supposed to do? |

| I think it's a shame: Our "mentally scarred individual" has been barred for writing the truth. Yes, I agree Molly - any newbies should read ALL the posts, but they can't now, can they. |

There is a difference between giving an honest opinion about a school which is under discussion and hijacking every thread, on whatever subject, to give your own (what appears to be) warped view of a particular school."His number shall be nameless" wasn't doing his cause any good.
He became reviled simply because he did it too much.
That doesn't mean he didn't talk sense sometimes.
I'm glad he's not polluting every post. I'm sure he'll be back in one shape or another. I'll welcome him back but I just hope he'll be a bit chastened. |

I suppose if you read posts from one person who loved a school and another who hated it, the best thing would be to PM them and find out why.
For example, me. Before Interlang went sour, it was generally considered to be a good school, and most people there liked it, especially if they had worked at other schools. Personally, I didn't get along well with dershanes in general because I couldn't get my head around the 'is it a school/is it a business/how much school/how much business?' problem, and that we were tacitly expected to do things to keep students happy (like pass them when they failed, or teach to their liking even though what they wanted to do was a waste of time, or that we couldn't give and expect them to do homework). I also hated hated hated the hours. Saturdays are for hangovers and Sundays are meant for sleeping and breakfast and wandering around and there was nothing I could do to change my psychology on that one.
But that's just me. Most people seem to be able to live with these things. So I guess the best anyone can do is find a person's reasons for their negativity, and decide if those reasons matter to them very much... |

The balanced discussion is still ET getting a humiliating drubbing.
Thread on ET has been removed after revelations by esl teacher, teacherdude and others. |

It will never end my man. Schools have a bad rap for a reason. You don't see people generally complaining about good schools. I also thought it had to do with every individuals experience but when I got ripped off for no reason. I realized everyone else was right about E.T. and I was wrong.
Case closed. |

| eslteacher you ripped off ET by your unprofessionalism, so don't blame the schools for your own behaviour. |

So are you saying that 31 was right after all and that you owe him an apology? |

me too, me too!!! (jumping up and down waving my hand)
i am (probably obviously) new to internet forums. You good people kind of broke me in
i find the intrigue of online identities amusing, i admit. but the obsessive thing is just unhealthy, especially for the 'perpetrator', or 'perp' (big law n order bass line coming on). have a whinge and get over it. god! there is an art to being HAPPY and it has nothing to do with constantly picking at old wounds or wrongs. get some goddamn perspective. watch some eastenders for crying out loud. try deadwood.
