|
|
I am arriving at PP Airport at the ungodly hour of 01:30! Obviously I can't wander the streets at that time, looking for a guesthouse in PP. I am a woman travelling alone. Can someone recommend a cheap guesthouse with clean rooms (w fan) and private bathroom, which is 'centrally located' in PP, AND has airport pickup service at 01:30 in the morning? |

you can take a taxi from the airport at all hours--9 bucks. For hotels, avoid Narins guesthouse, unless you can geet a room in the annex which is a nice building. If you look up andy brouwers cambo website (andy has a particular hotel he likes to patronise) or talesofasia.com, they recommend hotels. Some, like the Walkabout, take bookings on-line and are open all nite.
bon voyage! ![Cool](images/smiles/icon_cool.gif) |

Walkabout? EEEEEUUUUCCCCHHHHH! The room I looked at was damp, mouldy and distinctly unclean.
Try the Flamingos hotel. They do offer a pick up service but I dont know if it will be ok at that time. I havent been there but everyone who has stayed there has said its really good. Rooms are about $20/night

I think I've got a fairly complete list of guest houses in Phnom Penh that have web sites at http://mekongesl.gotop100.com, also check www.khmer440.com |

Top Banana guesthouse is a pretty good one in a central location. They don't do hotel pickups but you will be able to get a taxi there from the airport. It's close to a bunch of internet cafes, restaurants and in a safe part of town. I know of a few people who've stayed there and they all say it's about as good as it gets for a cheap guesthouse in Phnom Penh.
Don't know about contact details though. Do a google search, or perhaps it's in the guidebook. It's on the corner of St 178 and St 51. |

Superstar Hotel (I kid you not), near the Highness Hotel and the big Wat (Ola....). Fantastic staff, new, clean, and delightful. |

Yes but the owners tend to go to sleep in the lobby about 11ish and lock the doors. unless you have a reservation I dont know if they would be happy about a walkin at that time! |

OK guesthouse has reasonable food, clean rooms and prices. Last Home guesthouse is good also, and has a much better food.
Good luck. www.talesofasia.com or www.mekongesl.com would be a good place to check for this sort of thing.
Avoid the walkabout unless you are looking for prostitution and drugs. I am guessing that you aren't looking for that! I'm a straight male, and even I get tired of that scene very, very, quickly. |
