Have any of you ever stopped dissecting the Bolivarian Revolution and Imperialism and other dull political topics long enough to discover a local writer whose books you really like? I don't mean Garca Mrquez or Carlos Fuentes or Isabel Allende or Jorge Lus Borges or anybody like that, but somebody you'd have never heard of if you'd stayed on your ass in, say, Caddo Parish, Louisiana.

I have, and sometimes I even think coming across the work of the Peruvian Julio Ramn Ribeyro was the defining encounter of the several years I spent teaching in Latin America. Have any of you even heard of Ribeyro? Well, if you're looking for something good to read, in not-too-difficult Spanish, get your hands on anything you can find by him. His stories are wonderful, as is his novel Crnica de San Gabriel.

Guy and she would have called me stupid because I just posted "hat" instead of hate!!

Anyways, how is your organization doing? Do you have any job placements for Chile or Venezuela? I would like to go there after I finish my contract in South Korea.

I never would've called you stupid. At best, I would rib you a bit....and defer to Moonraven's eloquence in insultations. Wink

Is that for me? We're doing fine, thank you. When does your contract finish in Korea?

Moonraven went to the Middle East to teach, and she posted while she was there. Then she just disappeared. Weird.

I never liked moonraven much, but it does seem rather at odds with her character to suddenly be quiet.

OK, you're stupid! Everyone can get all sentimental with warm fuzzy feelings now!
Laughing Laughing Laughing
Perhaps Moonraven is in counselling, and her therapist told her to stop posting! Shocked

Guy, my contract does not finish for a while but I really want to get to South America or Central America. So I am always checking for opportunities.
