Does anybody know of a nice place to stay in Pelabuhan Ratu? For about 150 000 to 200000 per room?
Thanks |

There is a nice hotel on the hill overlooking the beach at Pelabuhan Ratu, I forget the name. I stayed there a few years ago it has a great restaurant at the top of the cliff with fantastic views while you eat your dinner by candle light. You cant miss it as the entrance is halfway up the small hill as you continue through P. R. towards the west on the main road. It,s probably still in that price range.
Most expates don't actually stay in P. R. though. It is much nicer if you continue west on that road about 15 or 20 minutes to Cimaja.
This is a nice little village with great accommodation from around Rp40.000 per night up to Rp450.000 for a bungalow four 4 to 6 people.
"Pondok Kencana" is owned by an Australian guy and his wife and they have small bungalows for about Rp200.000 per night for 2 people and the large ones I mentioned before, which are really small houses with all facilities. This place is very popular and also has a swimming pool and pool table plus a tennis court in not quite perfect condition but usable.
The other good option is "Cek Ombak" which is a bit dearer but very nice. They have small but great rooms with AC for around Rp240.000 and bungalows also but they are quite expensive, I think around Rp350.000 and up. Cek Ombak has a very nice 2 story bar/retaurant also and a nicer pool but the food was getting a bit expensive last time I was there.
I usually stay at Pondok Kencana and wander over the road to Cek Ombak some evenings for a feed and you can swim in there pool even if you are only eating there.
Both are a 2 minute walk from the beach
Hope this helps |

I forgot to mention that Pondok Kencana also has a bungalow with 3 seperate rooms opening onto a single veranda and sharing 1 bathroom and kitchen downstairs. These rooms are around Rp100.00 per night and rather basic but quite nice.
One other thing, take mosquito repelant as they can be a bit annoying during the night at some times of the year, but no worse than Jakarta I guess. |
