|
|
Hi! I've got a question about certification...
When I graduate from my Master's program (Master of Arts in Teaching) I'll be certified by the state of Missouri to teach TESOL to kids from grades K-12 (and English/Language Arts for grades 5-12). My question is, is this governmental certification equivalent to a CELTA or any other program? I can post the courses required for this certification, if necessary...it does include one full semester of TESOL teaching practicum, so it's pretty extensive training. I just want to know if my qualifications are insufficient, enough, or more than sufficient to get me a TEFL job in Europe, because that is what I would like to end up doing.
Thanks for any info. I know I asked a similar question on the newbies forum a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to rephrase it in more detail on this board in hopes of getting a few more helpful replies. Thanks again! |

A masters with a state certification trumps a lowly CELTA, but...
It's not your qualifications that will stop you from teaching in Europe, it's your lack of an EU-member passport. |

Yes, I know all about the whole EU passport thing, which is so ridiculously frustrating...but I still have my heart set on teaching in Europe, even it if is a non-EU member country. |
