I've been offered one at 14,000 riyals at some remote village near the Kuwaiti border. No compound, just an apartment building. Transportation is provided to a compound teaching job in a combined Aramco/Kuwaiti oil project. Wondering whether this is too chancy. |

Norman, this looks almost 100% copied from my earlier posting. And your earlier posting from January says you're going to ELS in Al Ain. What's that all about?? |

Yes it is. I went to ELS in UAE but my father had a heart attack and went back home to be with my family. |

Al-Khafji is boring. Check out if the accomodation is shared or not, and how much furniture allowance, and the holidays. |

Khafji???
It's the Saudi version of the Old West. When I was there two years ago there were still bombed out buildings from Desert Storm.
It's one of the armpits of KSA.
"Boring" is a gross understatement.
In two words--it sucks.
That's how I feel about it and I was getting SR15000 a month! |

Lots of loose marbles rolling about - lost by people who went there to teach EFL. |

My colleague Albulbul was merely pointing out, in figurative language, that Khafji is a difficult place to be in. |

I read it as meaning that the place would drive you crazy... and so it sounded... |

Khafji is the nearest I have been to the fictional "Fort Zinderneuf" in Beau Geste. Beware "le cafard" ! |

If anyone wants information about Khafji I can provide it. I've been working at KJO and living here for 15 months. The conditions are apalling and anyone considering taking a job here needs to know the facts. I am leaving here for good at the end of this month to take up a position based in Kuwait and can't get out of the place quick enough. |
