I think the EU will colapse before Turkey have a chance to join.

Its taken 40 years to get this far ,will be interesting to see what happens in the next 10,2015 being the date when Turkey will become a full member according to trhe Turkish media,methinks critics still can't believe its come this far . Hopefully it will see an end to that otterman style management someone reecently wrote about , or maybe they will decide they don't need or deserve that type of comment anymore . sigh eh BA

It means ET will be able to spread freely across Europe, extending its evil empire of misrule from lake Van to the Atlantic Wink

I agree with Baba. Maybe the EU won't neccessarily collapse, but that it will splinter before then. If this debcle happens and yaramaz's lawsuit isn't successful, both will probably be my fault.

There are a few good things I can see coming from it, like some changes in some backwards laws, but it seems to me mostly bad things are happening that we're not really aware of. Seems a few people will get very rich while everyone else suffers or remains the same.

I hope to see an improvement in the cheese and wine selection.

Hear! Hear!

Seriously, Europe is on dodgy grounding at the moment. It seems unlikely that human rights issues in Turkey are going to improve, when they are getting worse in some European countries.
They people at the top will start arguing, stay in 5 star hotels in Brussels, retire on huge pensions filan falan.
The poor will get poorer, the rich will get richer.

The biggest problem is that everywhere in Europe and Turkey right wing politics is undergoing a bit of a resurgance. I can see anyone nicely intergrating with anyone else in the current climate.

It's all Justme's fault.
* sigh *

Actually, I think ghost is at least partly responsible. He did, after all, advise Eslteacher 1973 about teaching in Turkey and everything went downhill after that, both in EU entry negotiations and in Turkey's human rights record.

I am starting to wonder if Justme, ghost, and 31 are the same person. I may have to sue everyone just to be safe.
