|
|
Hey Guys, having bought my ticket to Santiago for christmas i'm now looking to find a tesol or celta course to begin in feb 06. I've got all of january to get myself organised as i'm catching up with some friends. Do you think it would be easiest to wait until i arrive to find a place and enroll or should i get it sorted out before i leave australia? The only thing is i dont want to be hanging about for a few months waiting for a place on a course.
Has anyone studied in Santiago and can they recommend a good provider or steer me away from dodgey ones? So far i've only come accross bridge-linguatec and they seem to get some bad press, opinions anyone? Are there any other good courses in Santiago? I have had a hunt through previous posts but being new to the site i think i'm crap at finding the info i need.
Also, is there any difference in content between tesol and celta courses?
Thanks again for your help. |

Thanks for the thread Guy, that helps cross that one off the list. Given that there are no other CELTA courses on offer in santiago, can anyone recommend a good tesol/tefl institution? Any info or advice (of any kind) would be very helpful as i definately want to get certified once i arrive in Chile.
Thanks for taking the time to repsond to my posts. I'm sure i'll have a milion more questions before i actually get on that plane. |

Thanks for the link Flax. I've got a friend in Santiago who said he will have a look around to see if there are any other courses on offer and what their reputations are like. I'll put up a post once he gets back to me. Cheers |

For anyone interested it seems the only other place besides BL to do your TEFL in Santiago is at The TEFL Acamdemy. I have been chatting with the director of ther school, James Foster, and he is really helpful, both about the course and living/working in Santiago in general The school is about 1 year old and has put through about 40 students so far. It doesnt have any accreditation at the moment but they have applied to have the course certified by the colege of teachers. It costs U$1495. the email address is [email protected]. |

We'll expect a full report and review once you complete the course!
Good luck and congrats on taking the first step... |

That is the address of Curtis Language Consulting, a private institute that I worked at for just a few months. They were just getting their TEFL course going when I left. The trainer is qualified and knows what he is doing. The company itself is a bit disorganized, though. When you finish the course, they may have some classes for you right away.

I'm not actually doing my course in Santiago, i posted the details of the TEFL Academy for anyone else who might be interested. I decided to go with EBC in Buenos Aires. Course starts mid feb which will give me 6 weeks in Chile to relax before heading to BA. Cant wait! |
