I am a first year certified teacher w/masters. interested in teaching abroad for the summer, specifically thailand, china, or europe. was advised to explore this discussion board by a friend who'd used it to make contacts for her summer of teaching english in thailand. So what should I watch out for? Contacts? What should I avoid? Any red flags to beware of? Any other advice? |

Welcome aboard misterc
As a certified teacher with a Masters Degree,
you'll have lots of options in this field.
Regarding summer gigs in (China, Thailand & Europe)
the question is a bit too broad for the General Forum.
I'd suggest you repost your questions
on the individual country forums.
You'll get better feedback from people
who are on the ground in those areas.
With regard to Thailand in particular,
you might want to browse around on
The Master Index Thailand sticky post
located at the top of the Thailand Forum.
If you scroll down to Part II: TEFL in THAILAND
you'll find quite a few on-topic Thailand resources.
If you scroll all the way down to Appendix A & B
you'll find an up-to-date cost-of-living index and TEFL FAQ.
There are also quite a few good people on the Thai Forum itself
who are more than happy to offer advice & suggestions to newbies.
