I was hoping that I might learn otherwise, but having spent a couple of weeks on the subject it looks like the best paid/best conditions ELT jobs in Europe are at UK universities. A pity the weather is lousy. And as it's my home country it's boring. So I reckon I'll stay in Asia a while yet. Adios for now.

UK ELT jobs in Unis - O.K.

Refugee Centres/Schools - no way

Language School Summer Courses - nightmare scenarios and lousy salaries.

The UK - overcrowded, traffic jams, road works, high costs, taxes and family relations - too many disadvantages

I absolutely agree. I sincerely hope that nothing in the forseeable future drags me back there...though I do enjoy going back to see family and friends once a year. There's only one place I'd put lower on the list - the good ol' USA.

As time goes by the reasons for revisiting the UK become fewer and fewer as members of the family die. Sad

The USA less appealing than the U.K. Wink Spot on, mate Laughing

I feel rasther like the old guys in British India in the days of the Raj : "I will do anything for Britain but don't ask me to go and live there !"
