I was hoping that I might learn otherwise, but having spent a couple of weeks on the subject it looks like the best paid/best conditions ELT jobs in Europe are at UK universities. A pity the weather is lousy. And as it's my home country it's boring. So I reckon I'll stay in Asia a while yet. Adios for now. |

UK ELT jobs in Unis - O.K.
Refugee Centres/Schools - no way
Language School Summer Courses - nightmare scenarios and lousy salaries.
The UK - overcrowded, traffic jams, road works, high costs, taxes and family relations - too many disadvantages |

I absolutely agree. I sincerely hope that nothing in the forseeable future drags me back there...though I do enjoy going back to see family and friends once a year. There's only one place I'd put lower on the list - the good ol' USA. |

As time goes by the reasons for revisiting the UK become fewer and fewer as members of the family die.
The USA less appealing than the U.K. Spot on, mate |

I feel rasther like the old guys in British India in the days of the Raj : "I will do anything for Britain but don't ask me to go and live there !" |
