Anyone ever get a job through this recruiter?
Any good or bad stories about them?
They sent me a contract for a university position in Guangdong Province, and it just looks too good to be true.
According to the contract, the salary is 12,000 RMB a month for 24 teaching hours, with one month paid holiday. The rest of the contract is pretty standard, 1-bedroom apartment on campus, etc.
Does this sound fishy? Or are some universities paying this kind of salary in China now? I thought 8,500 RMB a month was about the top of the pay scale for most teaching jobs.
If know, please let me know. |

If you look at what they pay everywhere else in the world , this is a normal salary . When you calculate cost of living and other things it is pretty much the same as you would get in Korea and a little less than TAiwan . Hong Kong for the hours it would be low .
And when you look at the tuition fees paid by students in China this should be what a teacher should make .
Ya maybe fishy |

Here's the latest, for what it's worth:
I posted this topic to find out about a company that places teachers in China. It wasn't my intention to give this company any free advertising, but I can see the point that anytime you start a tread about a recruiter it's sort of free publicity.
They sent me a contract that showed a salary of 12,000 RMB a month. I was quite surprised, because I know most salaries top out at around 8,500 RMB a month.
I never asked the recruiter about it, thinking instead that I'd wait for the telephone interview with the university to find out if the salary was legit.
My so-called recruiter told me that the university would call me on a certain date and time, but they never called. So, all I can say to anyone who is thinking about using a recruiter to find a job in China -- BEWARE!
No credibility, no integrity: that about sums up the business practices of a lot of these companies. Makes me feel sad. And a little mad. |
