|
|
Hi. I'm an experience math teacher (college and high school). I am 26 years old. This summer I'd like to do a certification program in South America and then teach for 6 months to 1 year. I prefer to teach adults.
I don't know where to begin. All my research so far has led me to websites for schools who all claim to be "internationally recognized" and who "guarantee teaching jobs". Can anyone recommend a good program? I'm very flexible and would like to go to Argentina or Chile, but could back to Ecuador. I speak a bit of Spanish and have travelled around Ecuador before. Anything would be helpful. Thanks for reading my first post.

Hello there-
It may be innapropriate to tout my own wares here, so to speak. So I'll be brief, but if you want to know more, pm me. I'm director of English at a well-known institute in Quito, and we're launching our first TESOL certificate course next summer. It's done through the School for International Training, which is a regionally accredited US university. Google SIT and you can get details on the program, and drop me a line for more info about doing it in Ecuador.
Regards,
Justin |

Actually it really begged the question: How is doing it in Ecuador any different to doing it anywhere else? To which you could only answer: Because in Ecuador you'd be doing it with Justin...*smirk*
PT get your mind out of the gutter... someone else's may want to float past,

Our TESOL Certificate course is available from next year, and is currently accepting applications. Itis open to all applicants who are over 20, college graduates, and interested in language teaching and experiential learning.
Applying to do it with Justin is a much more selective procedure, although it also seems to get less applicants.
Regards,
Justin |

Great minds think alike Guy, I was about to ask Justin for his vital statistics so that we could see what we could do for him... Forget Dave's Esl Cafe, how about Dave's Dating Services, wasn't it dmb who was saying he met his girlfriend through the site? Actually meeting prospective partners is what you sometimes do in a cafe though isn't it...Ok, he can keep the name for now.
So JT how about it, are you man enough to expose yourself to us?

This thread has been hijacked. (By us.) Sorry OP.
And I'm reporting you all to the mods for sexual harrassment. (I haven`t got a digital camera, so can't do a recent photo.)

It doesn't count as sexual harrassment if the harassee is enjoying it as much as you are...
As for the hijacking, my apologies also but in fairness you did answer his question!

Wow! I just wandered in here with an idle 10 minutes to pass before my next class, but somehow this topic has piqued my interest!
Got photos?
Got any info about anything other than a certificate course? I was hoping to do some fantastic masters while having work (and income) guaranteed, and time for a fabulous personal life.... |

To the OP...sincerest apologies. However, this is how we spend our time here in Latin America...
Loz...I think we need a pic of you too, as well as PT. Mine's up already. |

I was excited to get so many replies. Then I read them.
Just kidding, thanks for the answers. Can you guys tell me if I can get a job in Quito in either February or July teaching English to adults without certification.
I have teaching experience in high school and at the college level. Thanks,
the OP |

Yeah, sorry OP.. But, as the most scatterbrained member of this forum, I'd suggest you try doing a Google on "international schools" and try to get a job in a bilingual school teaching maths, unless you particularly want to teach EFL. There is an association out there (which I found by doing the aforementioned Google) that recruits teachers to international schools, and you can only get a job with them if you have teaching certification in your own country.
As for you Guy, try looking to the left of this message. That is exactly what I look like!
