Ive just move to Katowice and cant seem to work the place out......Its certainly not as bad a place as some people have said on here but I am finding it difficult to work out where everyone goes after 10pm. Last Friday I was told in 2 restaurants that they werent serving anymore and the 3rd strated putting chairs on tables before we were done!!
I refuse, however, to be put off. Anyone direct me to a few nice bars, clubs or whatever? |

one word: locals.
Certain Restaurants may close early, but there's tons of little bars tucked away in basements, back alleys and wherever.
I dont know about you but I came here to meet beautiful Polish women! They are your best guide to the drinking establishments in your area. Most bars are open all night too so dont worry about 'last call'
Just chat up some locals and get the 'unofficial' tour. I've been doing that and havent looked back
Nasdrovy! |

Katowice while by no means matching Krakow for night life has a fairly healthy scene of its own. People from neighbouring cities such as Chorzow, Giliwice and Zabrze come here for their Friday and Saturday nights.
If you want to join in with the 20 something crowd try GRZESZNICI W NEBIE (Sinners in Heavan), on ul Sokolska 7. Good music and good atmosphere most nights - going on till late.
Business Club "Genisis" on ul. Matejki 3 - for those of us who feel a bit old for Grzesznici w Nebie - plays until the early hours; always has a good atmosphere and the music keeps playing well into the morning.
If you like a good sit down bar with staff who are happy to let you practice your Polish try "Wunderbar" on ul. Plebiscytowa 2. It has a Bavarian feel and is a little pricy but I really like it nonetheless.
Apparently the only real ex-pat haunt in Katwowice is "Longmans Bar" on ul. Giwicka which I am yet to try but seems nice enough from the outside.
I hope this is of some use. If you want anymore help just ask. |

I forgot to mention "13" on ul Mikolowska which is good for Live televised screenings of sports like baseball, ice hockey, tennis and football (Champions League and Internationals).
Across the road from "13" is the "Spencer Pub" which, beers aside, has a nice selection of 'serious' drinks. |
