I do not want to visit and find everything is closed for Eid Al Fitr !

Everything closed until Eid except room service in 5 star hotels. All hotel prices doubling during Eid.

Well off to BAH tomorrow . I am a bit miffed that I seem to have missed 'Der Untergang' at the cinema. That was on a few weeks ago apparently. Now it will be the usual awful mix of Hollywood/Bollywood and Arabic movies.

Of course I shall be visiting the Tylos for some local colour, with my notebook never far away.

And this weekend at the cinema in Bahrain it is 'The Da Vinci Code'. The Arabic translation of the novel is actually being READ by my students in Saudi ! This is unknown - for Saudi students to read a novel !!!!

Of course they really get off on the plot of the evil Catholic hierarchy engaging in a conspiracy to keep from us the truth about the Prophet Isa.

Saudi students reading a novel now that really is bizarre....my bahraini ones wouldn't know what one was if they fell over a whole bookshop...

I think this is further proof that we are living in the 'End Days'.

Some of us get a discount on the grounds of poverty. 15 BD or 150 SR a night.

This time I am going upmarket - to the Gulf Gate. I wonder if the ladies are upmarket too.

I shall continiue to take notes for possible inclusion in my blockbuster novel, in which all shall be revealed about 'Thrifty' and his doings. The names have been changed to protect the guilty.

Gulf Gate was nice. After the withering comments from 'thrifty' I am pleased that I went upmarket.

Strangely in the Gulf Gate there was not one EFL teacher to be seen, while the bar of the Tylos is full of them.

The Gulf Gate is upmarket? What did they charge you - 25 dinar?

There is plenty of parking but the rooms are really tatty.

After discount on the grounds of poverty, 21.600 BD.(approx 216 SR)

So where do you stay ? With the royal family ? With Jacko the Whacko ?
With HE Her Britannic Majesty's Ambassador ?

Well, nobody teaches summer courses unless he/she is after more dinars. Enjoy the heat and of course your Guinness at the Irish bar!!!!
