Is anyone familiar with a long underground shopping arcade in Eminonu?
I was told about it but don't know where it is and would like to check it out.

There is one in the underpass that is near the Halic bridge. It is not worth visiting and sells cheap crap and has a few very cheap lahmacun places. Why would you want to go there?

Law number 7867/2:

Ayran is the only drink that is to be drunk with lahmacun.

Why? Because lahmacun and ayran together are very beautiful.

Basically, clothes with non-mall prices but with some kind of space for trying them on.

If you are on the European side, try Sisli/Osmanbey or Sirinevler, as they are both near textile districts and you can find cheaper clothes there. The underground passages in Eminonu might have some things but you have to pick through it. Collection is in one of them, but I don't know that they are any cheaper than in their other stores (but they are already fairly cheap).

Hey thanks - this helps a lot.
I like the idea of exploring the outlets on the Asian side too. Are the outlets more or less in one area? No car, but a taxi could get us there.

In a say, five mile radious of Sirinevler, there must be a hundred textile factories big and small. Altin Yildiz ( a huge textile factory) for example produces Victoria`s Secrets, Fabrika, Carsi, Altimod as well as contract stuff. Most of the factories have factory shops where they sell seconds as well as stuff that is perfect but if they get an order for 9800 items they set the machinery up for 15,000 to account for seconds, rejects etc. so alot of the stuff in the factory shops are perfect.

I got some beautiful shirts from the Altin Yildiz shop for a few pounds. Also if you want a trip out to justme`s part of the world there is a great baby clothes factory shop called do reh mi. Near the Altin Yildiz place there is a factory that makes stuff for Reebok and Nike.

The only problem is that you really need a car and you can never be certain what is going to be in the shops. There are some factory shops in Zeytinburnu where I bought a fantastic coat, again for next to nothing.

In Kadıky, up Bahariye Cad, there are several outlets-- like Mango, etc. You dont need a car for those, and they are very close to Barlar Sokak for afters.

The best outlets are on the sea side road from Bostani to Kartal there's about 10 different outlets includind one for damat and igs. So you can pick up top of the line gear for a real good price. I brought a beyman shirt there a while ago for 68 Y.T.L thats alot but the shirt would normally cost well over 100 Y.T.L.

Seaside road may be cheaper than the malls but you still pay alot.

On the other hand in your into really cheap prices then the market stalls around the old topkapi otogar is the place to head.

Sort of connected. I was in Cevahir yesterday in Sisli. It is massive. It claims to be the biggest mall in Europe. True of False?

Go to Eminonu . You can buy a similar one without Beymen tag, and less than 18 million:-). Oh brother Calsimsek i think i should take you to Eminonu one day. Smile

The outlet stores in Gneşli aren't bad for clothes... Though they're a bit spread out-- a car would be a good idea.
