Hi, does anyone have any info about a group of colleges called the IAT, who just advertised on tefl.cam. From reading the advert they are aligned with the HCT, and are looking for teachers, with to be fair, the minimum of qualifications and experience for a UAE job (CELTA and 2 years experience). Does anyone know what the pay and conditions would be like, especially when compared with the HCT? |

I did a google and it is apparently a department of HCT. The ad mentions that it is secondary school level - not a college... and this bit from the website mentions the military. (MLI replacement?)

I don't think they are an MLI replacement. I remember that a few of the Arabic advisors got hired to teach ESL there. However, I am not aware of any ex-MLI teachers going to work there as the salary and conditions were worse than what CERT had offered. It turned out to be a lifeline for some of the non-western staff that were dropped by CERT/HCT. |

That's the new name of the old technical high schools (or maybe they were called technical secondary schools), now run by HCT in some form. In their previous incarnation, they had a pretty terrible reputation for unmotivated, indisciplined students: I don't know if that's improved under the new regime, but I suspect it wojuld take more than new management.
Someone posted on here a while back to say he was going to work at an IAT in Fujairah: don't know if he ever made it or how it worked out, he doesn't seem to have posted again. |
